Wagstaff "John Paul Jones" Musical
When
completing his musical for stage production, composer Julian Wagstaff used
Conrad Productions to write the orchestral arrangements and later undertake
the original cast recording.
| The musical tells the story of the gardener's son from Nithsdale, Scotland who became a hero of the American War of Independence as the "Father of the American Navy" | ![]() |
|
| The
story begins in Dumfries, Scotland. From there, we travel to France and
the splendour of the Palace of Versailles, then on to America, Russia,
and finally back to Paris where Jones' story culminates amid the tumult
of the French Revolution.
The score is melodic and uplifting, the lyrics memorable and the storyline brisk. The world premiere production featured an on-stage company of over 30 and a 16-piece orchestra. |
