From
his original 4-track home demo Conrad Productions arranged and recorded 15
backing tracks for songwriter Dougie Rice. To guitar, drums, bass, keyboards,
brass and orchestral arrangements Dougie finally added vocals to complete
his album.

Dougie
Rice is a solo artist whose musical interest is as varied as the songs
on the album. With many influences spread over three decades of contemporary
music.

Artists such as Ry Cooder, John Martyn, Edwin Collins, Paul Simon and Donald Fagen have influenced many of the songs.What started as a collection of acoustic numbers, written over a period of 15 years, has now become "Holidays". This collection was selected by Dougie & Mick McGarr, working through four track tapes of over 40 songs, ultimately selecting 15 to work on for the album . The title comes from the first song and whilst the album departs from a holiday feel, the idea was conceived from an early stage in the production. Dougie says: "The album is a collection of songs written and composed over 15 years and finally pulled together. I have always intended to record my music, but never quite got round to devoting the time to put down the tracks. Over the course of 10 months and from my initial four track recordings, we re-recorded and re-worked individual arrangements for each song." |
