David
William "One Way Ticket"
After
recording his vocals and guitar tracks at his home studio, singer-songwriter
David William hired Conrad Productions to write and record drums, bass, keyboards
and orchestral arrangements for his album.
| Hailing
from Edinburgh, Scotland, David William was a relative latecomer to music,
picking up a guitar for the first time when he was 18 years old. Inspired
to do so by the Britpop scene of the time, he soon became obsessed with
music new and old, and was writing songs before he could play guitar properly
(something he still hasn't got round to doing!). |

| Imagine the sound of a fine wine being poured, a coal fire burning on a cold winter's night, the screech of a knife on a plate as you cut through an uncompromising steak.... well, that's not the sound of David William's music. Describing it is no easy task. What remains constant are the subtle melodies that weave their way into your head. The dreamy, thought-provoking lyrics that at first glance appear random statements only to reveal the nuances of everyday life and the thoughts and feelings running through your own head. |

Framed inside atmospheric arrangements with the odd chord twist here and there, the musical influences in these songs are not always clear. Neil Finn, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Neil Young, Travis, Dave Dobbyn, The Smiths and Simon & Garfunkel are notable mentions. |
| The 12 songs recorded for this debut album of material were written between 1999 and 2003, and were recorded over the period between April 2004 and December 2005, with producer/musician Mick McGarr. It marks a turning point in David's journey, a chance to let some of his best songs to date be heard how they were intended, and the opportunity to begin a new musical chapter. |
| "One
Way Ticket is a brilliant debut album - well crafted, tight, catchy melodies,
superb production and great vocals. The arrangements and texture are a
joy to hear." - CD Baby listener, Scott Menefee, Copperdown. "This
is one heck of a gem!!... Overall the production of the this disc is
amazing. The riffs and the lyrics are very catchy and keep you listening
from the first track to the last track!" "Top
class stuff from Edinburgh-born David William... This is very radio
friendly commercially viable music, but it has enough originality in
there to keep musical cynics like me happy too. Excellent!" Wow! I'm
not sure what to say... it's perfectly produced, the voice is strong,
the tune is structured nicely. Harmonies are great. The jangly guitar
works really well." |
